Terms of service
These terms apply to the Marmareen app for Android and iPhone, the web edition at marmareen.com/app, and this website (together, "Marmareen"). By using Marmareen you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Marmareen.
1. What Marmareen is
Marmareen is a free app for reading and listening to the Quran, prayer times, qibla, duas and zikr. It has no accounts, ads or paid features.
2. Religious content
- The Quran text is the Uthmani text from Tanzil, shown verbatim.
- Translations come from QuranEnc.com and are shown unaltered with their translator, publisher and version.
- Recitations are provided through quran.foundation.
- Duas from the Quran are shown exactly as in the Quran text. Duas and zikr you write yourself are labelled as your own text; Marmareen does not check them.
We take great care with this content. If you find an error, please tell us at support@marmareen.com with the surah and ayah, or the screen where you saw it.
3. Prayer times, qibla and counters are aids
Prayer times are calculated from your location and the method you choose; they can differ from your local mosque by a few minutes, and you can adjust them in settings. The qibla direction depends on your device's sensors and can be affected by nearby metal or magnets. The Tawaf and zikr counters help you keep count; they do not replace your own attention. Please check with your local mosque or scholars where it matters.
4. Your use of Marmareen
You may use Marmareen for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not sell Marmareen or its content, remove its credits or source notices, present its content as your own, or use it in a way that breaks the law or the terms of the content providers above.
5. Content licences
The Quran text is used under the Tanzil licence (verbatim copies only). Translations are used under QuranEnc's terms. Fonts are used under the SIL Open Font License; photos under the Unsplash License. Full credits are in the app under More → Credits and More → Licences.
6. No warranty
Marmareen is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not guarantee that Marmareen will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on prayer times, the qibla direction or counters. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes and availability
We may update Marmareen and these terms. If we change the terms, we will update the effective date above; using Marmareen after a change means you accept the new terms. We may change or stop parts of Marmareen, such as the web edition, at any time.
